I am no longer a resident of New Orleans, but I had to smile a bit today when I saw Ray Nagin got re-elected. I am surprised he got it and I'm not sure it is a good thing for the city. Anyway, I don't live there, anymore. Too many hurricanes for this kid.
The trusty blazer is leaking more oil than the Bush Admin and Wal-Mart is to blame. I took her in for an oil change and the messed up the plug. Somebody's gotta pay and it ain't gonna be me! Actually, it probably will be me, but at least I have an insurance claim filed with the corporate whore's insurance agency. We'll see how the "little guy" guy does against the tyrant. By the way, this is why I am not using a car anymore!
Plans to see Da Vinci tomorrow, too. Am I the only one getting a bit sick of the hype? I watch a lot of History channel, discovery channel, etc. and that is all they seem to be running shows about. Plus, I have even heard the movie isn't that good. Eurostar has a pretty fun quest, though. Also, I think Google is making some more puzzles, as well.

Finally, some excitement in the life. Rocks and Ropes climbing gym was the place for me, today. I had a blast!! It had been too long since I got some climbing in, other than my stupid training board for pull-ups. The gym was great and changed a lot since I had last been. Tons of routes (most too hard for me)...but really cool.
The arms are sore, but well worth it. I am definitely gonna have to find out about the gym status in Chicago. Anybody know of a good one, let me know! In fact, if anybody reads this...let me know.
I am gonna go put the hurts on the local sushi bar tonight, both in food and sake. Tomorrow, I have a nice, long, dusty, hot ride planned. Only a few more days in the 'Zone left, and I am making the most of them! I almost forgot...the best link I have seen this week...cannabis girls courtesy of the good ol' drunk cyclist, thanks!

Mother's day. I wish I had some exciting stuff today, but no. I am gonna try to erase the ugly memory of my last run and hit it again, today. Hopefully the "god of cramps" will leave me alone. I have been hydrating my ass off and it had better be enough!
I think I am gonna take mom out for sushi tonight. The sake, I am sure, will put me down the tubes when it comes to hydration...screw it.
I gotta leave a link to this page http://www.guerrillanews.com/ Very interesting stuff and some different points of view. Worth a look. I guess this is one of my worst entries yet, but that is what comes from being comfortable with mediocrity.

I survived Las Vegas. I think I had far to many Heinekens, but can a person really do that? After a brief stop in Laughlin, Nevada we pressed on to Sin City. Fortunately, I took some of the Colorado Belle's money with me, only to give it to the bastards at the Fremont Casino. (No link given to those tossers).
Vegas was amazing, as always. God, I want to move there. Once I get through with this Chicago business, I am Vegas bound! I managed to actually recover my losses and almost broke even. That is a good trip, in my opinion. I am spending today rehydrating and planning to get back into the trails, tomorrow.
May 5, 2005 (Cinco de Mayo)
It is Cinco de Mayo and today is a day when everybody is Mexican. Kinda like St. Patrick's Day. I will celebrate with a day of exercise and some Negra Modelo beers tonight.
I am going to a search and rescue meeting before hand, maybe there will be a call out to look for lost drunks? On a brighter note...I leave for Vegas and Laughlin in a few days!
I have been running, riding and lifting my ass off, lately. I feel it is almost as if I will be going away for some time, and loose all this nice weather and terrain in Arizona... Like I am going somewhere cold and flat, like the midwest. Maybe it is just a bad dream?

Today is my Mom's birthday..Happy birthday Mom. She is probably the only one who reads this site, so I gotta give her a "shout out". By the way, this was my first and last "shout out".
I have officially over-trained the last few days. Biking and running and Guinness make Erik a tired boy. The knees, the back, the liver...they all hurt. I was reading www.HenryRollins.com and thought it was pretty cool, check it out. He is about as cool as it gets.
It is getting late and the drink has officially taken hold of me. Fortunately, I am taking tomorrow off from exercise and focusing more on the booze. By the way, I saw BrokeBack Mountain, no hot chicks just some naked cowboys grunting. Not my scene, but a good movie. I see why Crash won best picture, too. But, what the hell do I know?!? Not that I am a republican, jesus freak, homophobe. I just thought Crash was better. To tell the truth, Heath Ledger was hauntingly attractive. That is another topic, though. Something between me and my shrink...if I could afford one. Substitute "Shrink" for "Bartender".
For the two people from Arizona that read this, I tried to go to the Bum Steer tonight, to get my "dollar pitcher" on, and they were closed! Bastards! What kind of bar is closed on a Friday-fucking-night? A bar that is allergic to money, I guess. The Fox and Hound got my money, instead.

Just back from a running session followed by some weights. Dude, it is damn hot out there! The sad thing is that it is only about 90-95 degrees. It is gonna get a lot hotter...I know I am not ready. On another depressing note...after a quick mtb ride yesterday, I was welcomed back to Arizona by a series of flat tires, today. I found some cool likns to some bad-ass events that I wish I had the balls to enter, maybe next year. ( I am glad I found these links after the rides past this year.) Now, I can at least have some time to prepare myself physically and spiritually, and get a good supply of barf bags stocked up on.
Arizona Trail 300 MTB Ride , Kokopelli Ride and all the twisted, sick shit that that group of Manson followers puts on. Check their site out for a humbling look into some long distance riding, unsupported.
I am gonna give Broke Back Mountain a watch tonight, for the first time. Don't spoil it for me but I heard it was a beautiful love story of a cowboy and a hot chick. I am kinda excited for it!

I am back into exercising after a required break (trip to chicago and a virus). I was actually getting into a bit of shape before this crap and now I have back-slid into slothness. My legs hurt, my shoulders hurt and I did a crappy little work-out. God, it sucks. Starting back into it after a break is the worst! I have been drinking a lot of Charles Shaw wine, which helps.
I am also going to have to take a much needed trip to Vegas, before I get ready to start work in June. The booze, the cards, the dice..they are my therapy. Some people dump tons of money into a shrink, I'll take a casino anyday.
Tomorrow is April 26, which means that it is the day immortalized by Sublime (one of the best bands ever). Hmmm, riot and looting in memory, anybody? By the way, how much does it suck when a great band ends because they are messed up on drugs?

Back in Arizona and working on changing my website. I am sick of the old layout and need some fresh stuff. I just got back from a long trip to Chicago...at least it seemed long. Many days of sitting in a hotel and waiting, plus I got sick. Ohh, did I mention that I am moving there? We drove out from Arizona...all 1885 miles of it. The Flying-J truck stops were a savior on the way. Tornados are really shitty, too. It seems that I just had to deal with Katrina and Rita, now I am going to experience tornados. I also had a great experience in Missouri involving swearing. I love to swear and use "fuck" almost as punctuation. So, in "Beaver's Hollow, Missouri" I found out that they don't take kindly to swear words. In the words of Nixon..."fuck 'em if they can't take a joke". It kinda reminded me of the good people over at the Landover Baptis Church.
I am back in Arizona and looking forward to doing some riding and running. I only have a few weeks, than I am back to Chi town. I guess I had better start liking the Sox. Anybody that is from Chicago...let me know some good things to do in the area involving the outdoors. Mountain biking trails, etc. Plus, I hear it gets a little cold there in the winters...hmmm?
